Applicant tracking systems rank resumes on relevance and measurable impact. Vague duties get filtered out; quantified wins get shortlisted. Here's the formula.
The formula
Action verb + what you did + measurable result. Start with a strong past-tense verb, say what you built or changed, and end with a number.
Examples you can adapt
- Cut deployment time 40% by automating the CI/CD pipeline.
- Grew monthly signups 3x by redesigning the onboarding flow.
- Reduced support tickets 28% by shipping a self-serve help centre.
- Led a 5-person team that delivered a product used by 5,000+ users.
- Recovered ₹13L in costs through detailed spend analysis.
Three rules that make the difference
- Quantify wherever you can - %, ₹, time, volume.
- Mirror the JD's keywords so the ATS scores you higher.
- Lead with impact, not the task.
